Asterion spam always seems very lacklustre and so easily countered. They cant beat hordes. Their damage struggles vs tanky units. Anti mechanical units, obviously, destroy them with ease. And without a shield unit in front, aoe knocks them off launcyer easily.

It works early in the game and will dominate for a while but falls off very hard, so if you cant lquncher by wave 25 then the enemy will have units that crap on sentinals.
It will also push really hard to enemy base and get smashed by double gun turret. Commandos are good but the Grenadier is better.
So if you go Commando, you still want to build at least 10 foot infantry before wave 5 upgrade. After upgrade you can build layncher more foot infantry or just start building Commandos. You can throw in a interceptor unit to kill detectors.

Snipers are really strong, they can survive the waves with there long range and start snowballing. They also can rack up a lot of gold in the fight allowing you more use of commander abilities.
Building a combo of 40 of them is one of the best early-mid game strategies. Smart Yaoguie players will build explosive sheep against this though and just smash your waves to pieces. In which case you need to tanks or air if enemy isnt building strong AA units. Battleships do very well in huge numbers late game with their active ability.
